MHI Vestas launches V164-9.5MW

On June 6, MHI Vestas launched the V164-9.5MW offshore wind turbine at the 2017 Offshore Wind Energy Conference (OWE 2017).

The model has a blade length of 80 meters and a weight of 35 tons. The cabin is 20 meters long, 8 meters wide and 8 meters high. It weighs 390 tons and has a hub height of 105 meters.

Based on the original V164 model, the model was redesigned and the cooling system was upgraded.

In September last year, the V164-9MW prototype installed in the Osterild test wind farm in Denmark set a world record of 216MW for a single machine in 24 hours.

Sometimes I think, when we are lamenting that the capacity of European units is getting bigger and bigger, will they also sigh that our blade lengths are new and high, but they represent the two paths of technological development, respectively. If it is developed to the extreme, Europe It’s a permanent paddle, and we’re full when we turn it on.

Which one is more economical? Each has its own strength in the short term, and the former should be better in the long run. Because the capacity of the unit is increased, the blades are shortened in disguise, and the blades are difficult to extend indefinitely. From this perspective, although the low wind speed is the characteristic of China's wind power market, it should be justified. After all, the three north, the sea and the overseas should be the main battlefield of the future.
