The nRF24L01 is a new single-chip RF transceiver that operates in the 2.4GHz to 2.5GHz ISM band. Built-in frequency synthesizer, power amplifier, crystal oscillator, modulator and other functional modules, combined with enhanced ShockBurst technology, where the output power and communication channel can be configured through the program. The nRF24L01 has low power consumption. When transmitting at -6dBm, the operating current is only 9mA. When receiving, the operating current is only 12.3mA. In various low-power modes, the current is 160mA when working at 100mw. WiFi distance is farther, but the amount of data transmitted is not as good as WiFi (power-down mode and idle mode), making energy-saving design more convenient.
The communication distance is a comprehensive indicator of the nRF24L01 wireless module and is subject to many conditions, factors and parameters.
The factors affecting the communication distance of the nRF24L01 wireless module are: antenna gain, output power, and transmission distance.
The general transmission distance is 5m.
Add onboard antenna, set 0DBM, generally can reach 20~25 meters in open area
Adding PA+ external antenna can achieve about 200 meters, and the highest can reach about 500 meters.
The nRF24L01 supports both the data transmission rate of 250kbps and 1Mbps. When other application parameters are consistent, the actual measurement communication distances of the two data transmission rates are very different. The low-speed 250kbps communication distance is at least twice as high as the high rate of 1Mbps. There is not a large amount of data but a high transmission rate, and the result is that the transmission distance will be affected.
1. Matching high gain antennas;
2. Appropriately increase the transmission power;
3. Adjust the appropriate transmission frequency;
4. Improve receiving sensitivity.
