The project for drawing robots comes from Google's Creative Lab. As shown in the figure, an Android phone (accurately Nexus6P) is attached to the upper right corner with a data cable connected to a board labeled "IOIO" (pronounced "Yuyou"), followed by two thin lines. The pen is bound.
In the actual demonstration, the staff used the Nexus6P to take pictures of the painting object, and the corresponding mobile phone software processed it in black and white, and then began painting with black lines.
However, the way the robot draws is not like a human being, but it is possible to draw down the next stroke, but it may be one stroke up and down, one stroke of the nose.
After the mobile phone determines the effect of the painting, the brush controlled by the motor will start to draw on the actual painting wall. The actual drawing time is about 3 minutes.
This is not Google's first project to draw portraits with robots. In 2012, Google's ChromeWebLab did another project in the Science Museum in London. At that time, a robot called Sketchbots was used. It was also used to photograph the painting object and manipulate the robot arm to draw with sand. The NextWeb reporter has experienced it once and the results are not bad.
At the World Mobile Congress in Shanghai last year, Huawei also showed similar painting robots, and some startup companies like mDrawBot are also doing software and hardware for robot painting.
