MILPITAS, CA -- February 17, 2015 — Intersil Corporation (Nasdaq: ISIL), a leading supplier of innovative power management and precision analog solutions, today announced the launch of its automotive parking assist applications The TW9984 four-channel analog video decoder with built-in analog video encoder helps improve driver and pedestrian safety. Based on market-leading Intersil video decoder technology, the TW9984 can replace up to nine discrete components with a single chip. At the same time, it offers the industry's best analog decoding performance, enabling the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) to produce 360-degree panoramic images with superior picture quality.
The Advanced Driver Assistance System is a fast-growing segment that is driven primarily by the safety requirements of all types of light cars. Most new cars today include a variety of optional features, such as a surround camera system for parking assistance and blind spot detection/cancellation. According to estimates by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), rear-view cameras can reduce the death rate of reversing accidents by more than half. Correspondingly, the application of automotive image sensors continues to increase. According to ABI Research, shipments will reach 197 million units by 2020.
The Intersil TW9984 analog video decoder and encoder provides the driver with a high-quality, detailed video that allows for a clearer view of the objects around the entire vehicle, not just the objects behind the vehicle. The Car Surveillance System (also known as the Surround View Monitor) processes video from four cameras and then combines the four images into a eagle-eye top view image that looks like a camera is directly above the vehicle. The monitor helps the driver visually confirm the position of the car relative to the surrounding objects for safe maneuvering and parking.
The TW9984 integrates four high quality analog video decoders and a 10-bit analog-to-digital (ADC) converter to support four analog camera inputs simultaneously. The flexible digital output interface allows system designers to easily send images to the processor, which then combines the four images into a single panoramic image. The built-in analog video encoder is capable of transmitting composite video (in standard analog composite signals) to a head-up (HUD) display. In addition, the analog anti-aliasing filter is integrated into each channel input of the TW9984 to further reduce component count. This highly integrated design helps simplify system design and minimize solution size to save valuable board space.

The TW9984 four-channel analog video decoder and encoder are available now in a 10mm x 10mm WQFN package for $5.00 and 1,000 pieces. The TW9984AT-NA1-EVAL evaluation board with user manual, schematic and firmware is also available.
The TW9984 can be combined with the ISL78302 dual LDO, the ISL78322 synchronous buck regulator and the ISL78228 dual synchronous step-down DC/DC buck regulator for the TW9984, memory, and for the automotive advanced driver assistance system. DSP or FPGA provides power rail management.
