Nintendo Switch handle supports multiple platforms but not equal to zero

[Abstract] The handles including Microsoft Xbox One and Sony PS4 have also been able to connect PCs through various forms, so Nintendo will naturally not fall behind.

The Verge Chinese Station reported on March 7

If you've been lining up hard over the weekend and have just gotten the first Nintendo Switch console, then the good news is coming. The Joy-Cons removable gamepad for Switch also works on Windows, Mac, and Android devices, which saves an extra cost for friends who like to play games.

Nintendo Actu from French Nintendo fan site has used Joy-Cons handles to connect to Windows and Android devices to test and confirm this statement, and an engineer named Sam Williams also conducted experiments on the Mac platform. The results are the same .

In the Windows system, the Joy-Cons handle needs to be paired with the device via Bluetooth, and JoyToKey software is used to map the keys of the keyboard and mouse to the Joy-Cons buttons and arrow keys. Joy-Cons works very well on the Windows platform. For example, in Halo 2, you can use one of the Joy-Cons joysticks for a smooth game. However, on Windows computers, keys cannot be mapped without using JoyToKey.

In fact, Nintendo's use of such a design is not surprising, especially considering that Nintendo's Wiimote can already be connected to a PC via Bluetooth, and this time Joy-Cons handles a similar approach. In addition, the handles including Microsoft Xbox One and Sony PS4 have also been able to connect to the PC through various forms, so Nintendo will naturally not fall behind.

Although we tested only a few games on the Windows platform, developers have already combined two Joy-Cons handles and developed third-party support applications. Before we saw that people have already developed independent applications for accessories such as Wiimote or Kinect, we also expect that there will be more adaptation software for Joy-Cons in the future.
