SAFC Hitech, a subsidiary of the American chemical materials giant Sigma-Aldrich Group, set up a new plant in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on March 15, 2012 with an investment of several hundred million NT dollars, which will meet the high-brightness LED precursor capacity demand in the Asia-Pacific market.
The new plant covers an area of ​​approximately 270,000 square feet and is commissioned to include high quality trimethylgallium (TMG), triethylgallium (TEG) and trimethylindium (TMI) for high-brightness LEDs (HBLEDs). The plant will also continue to manufacture precursors for atomic layer deposition (ALD) and chemical vapor deposition (CVD) for the silicon semiconductor market, while providing services and support for packaging and technology in the Asia Pacific region.

All business was transferred to the new Kaohsiung plant. At present, SAFC Hightech is also actively seeking talents in Taiwan. It is estimated that the number of employees in Taiwan will reach 120 by the end of 2012.
