In previous GDC keynote speeches, Epic Games was famous for its fantastic demo demonstration. The technology was developed by Epic Games in collaboration with Chevrolet and video production company The Mill, and is committed to the promise of a high-end augmented reality experience.
Epic Games said that in a traditional TV or movie shooting, a single computer-generated frame requires several hours of rendering time, and at the same time, it takes several days to perform touch-up adjustments to present “film quality†images. . With Project Raven, however, the director can immediately add these types of visual effects to the digital environment through the Unreal engine and the proprietary virtual authoring tool developed by The Mill. To demonstrate this technology, Epic Games used Project Raven to change the color of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in real time.
Although today's focus is on Chevrolet products, Project Raven is very beneficial to the future, especially for filmmakers, advertising agencies, and other users who use computer-generated images. Xiao Bian learned that these new features will land on Epic's platform in the second half of this year, but the company did not disclose the specific time and method. At the consumer level, the company provides an experience for Google’s Project Tango, where users can enjoy the 360-degree Camaro ZL1 through the 3D in-depth sensing capabilities of Pheon 2 Ph Pro and configure it according to their preferences.
Unfortunately, this Tango application is currently only for internal use, but Epic pointed out that they are very interested in augmented reality.
