1. Introduction
In July 2004, JVT completed the development of the extension part (Amendment) of H.264FRExt (ie: FidelityRangeExtensions), including High profile (HP), High 10 profile (Hi10P), High 4: 2: 2 profile (Hi422P ), High 4: 4: 4 profile (Hi444P) 4 profiles. In addition, JVT started the standard formulation of a layered coding SVC for a new extension of H.264 in January 2005 and plans to complete it by the end of 2006. 2. Technical characteristics of FRExt

2. Transformation method
Since FRExt targets high-resolution video images, in order to obtain better coding efficiency, an integer 8% 8 transform method is added to FRExt, and the transform matrix is:
The calculation accuracy is (8 + n) bits, where the input video samples are n-bit precision. This transformation method can be realized quickly by the butterfly method, and its calculation complexity is slightly more than that of the 4% 4 transformation method in H.264, as shown in Table 3.
In the encoding process, the MB encoder chooses whether to use 4% 4 transform or 8% 8 transform for each macroblock. However, for inter-frame macroblocks, if the 8% 8 subdivision method is used (that is, 4% 8, 8% 4. 4% 4 mode), the luminance component adopts the 4% 4 transformation method; and for intra-macroblocks, if the luminance component adopts the 8% 8 prediction method, the luminance component adopts the 8% 8 transformation method.
