[HC Lighting Network] Avago Technologies (Avago) recently announced that it has introduced one of the industry's smallest high-brightness 3W LED products for a wide range of solid-state lighting applications. Measuring 5mm x 4mm x 1.85mm, Avago’s new compact 3W LED product, the ASMT-Jx3x, is available in a small SOP package that delivers high brightness output with up to 700mA. This compact LED provides a wide viewing angle and fits MSL-1 humidity sensitivity level and reliability. This cost-effective 3WLED is ideal for space-constrained lighting applications, including portable lighting, street lighting, architectural exterior lighting, retail display lighting, backlighting and a wide variety of special lighting applications. Avago is a leading provider of analog interface components for communications, industrial and consumer applications.
Despite its compact size design, the ASMT-Jx3x still offers a wide viewing angle of 165o, meeting the needs of design engineers who need good color and photometric output consistency in lighting applications. Avago's ASMT-Jx3x is designed to handle high temperatures. High-performance LED with high drive current, providing high-intensity output of up to 160 lumens (lm) with 700mA current. This LED can withstand a junction temperature of up to 135oC and an ESD of up to 16kV, making it less susceptible to electrostatic discharge interference. No special ESD protection is required during installation. Compatible with standard surface mount reflow soldering procedures, this 3W LED product not only reduces design costs, but also gives lighting design engineers greater freedom and flexibility in application design.
