Elop says no intention to sell mobile phone business

Elop says no intention to sell mobile phone business "The sale of Nokia's popular mobile phone business, it is difficult to understand the theoretical basis for this approach." According to foreign media reports, Nokia Chief Executive Stephen Elop (Stephen Elop) said on Thursday. As an independent competitor in the mobile phone industry, Nokia can survive in the market. On the market, there are reports that Nokia will sell the company into a difficult equipment business, Elop refused to make a special comment. He pointed out: "If we are performing very well and keep the new products coming out, then our future will be quite bright."

Before Elop took the "Wall Street Journal" interview to publish the above comments, Nokia released the latest smartphone Lumia 1020. The biggest selling point of this phone is to have a camera with 41 million pixels. The camera's pixels are almost five times that of the current high-end smartphone camera pixels. Elop does not believe that Lumia 1020 will be a big sale, but hope it can become a "beacon", so that the company brand continues to shine in the hearts of consumers. He said, "The purpose of Nokia's introduction of this product is to make consumers understand that these products are from Nokia, so that consumers can buy Nokia products in the future."

The Wall Street Journal reported last month that sources revealed that Nokia is negotiating with Microsoft on the sale of mobile phone services. It is reported that this negotiation has been stagnating because the two sides could not reach an agreement on the purchase price, and Microsoft is worried about the market status of Nokia's collapse and other issues.

Nokia and Microsoft already bundled their mobile services. In early 2011, Nokia and Microsoft established a partnership and agreed to only use Microsoft’s Windows Phone mobile operating system to support the company’s smartphones. However, this cooperation has so far failed to achieve great results, and the fate of the two companies has not changed as a result. Although market research company IDC statistics show that in the first quarter of this year, Windows Phone has surpassed BlackBerry to become the world's third largest mobile operating system, but facing the competition between Apple and Samsung Electronics, Nokia's smart phone shipments are still pale and powerless . IDC data shows that Apple and Android devices accounted for 92.3% of the smartphone market in the first quarter, up from 91.1% in the fourth quarter.

Nokia's smart phone market in the United States is even more difficult. Elop said that in 2004, Nokia's market share in the United States had more than 40%; but with the successive listing of Motorola Razr and later iPhone, Nokia's share in the US market has been running out.

Elop said that he is not satisfied with Nokia's current market position, but said that Nokia has been making continuous progress and smart phone shipments have been growing. He said, "We are moving in the right direction. We must maintain the growth of smartphone shipments."
