At the 18th China International Hi-Tech Fair in Shenzhen, the “Little Fat Robot†suddenly broke down and played without instructions. The booth glass was eventually destroyed, and some of the booths were destroyed and injured.
The Shenzhen High-Tech Fair officially responded to the incident, saying that the robot injury incident was caused by improper operation of the staff. At about 13:50 pm on November 17, an accident occurred at the booth of Shenzhen Exhibition Century Technology Co., Ltd. at booth 1D32 of Hall 18 of the 18th High-Tech Fair. Due to the improper operation of the exhibitor staff, the “forward button†was mistakenly used as the “back buttonâ€, which led to a robot (also known as “Little Fatâ€, produced by Beijing Evolutionist Robot Technology Co., Ltd.) used to assist in the display of projection technology. The glass of the booth, the glass fell to the ground and scratched a live audience, causing the ankle to be smashed and bleed.
After the accident, the medical staff of the high-tech fair immediately attended the emergency treatment and dressing, and immediately sent the injured to Peking University Shenzhen Hospital with an ambulance. After detailed examination by the hospital, the injured person smashed two stitches and returned home.
The official of the High-Tech Fair also said that the exhibitors and robot manufacturers understand that the robot was first introduced at the World Robotics Conference on November 23, 2015, and has obtained relevant domestic safety certification. The detailed reasons for this accident are being further verified. The official said that the incident has nothing to do with the quality of the robot, and the speculation of "the robot's awakening" is simply not established.
The chubby robot was originally developed for children aged 4-12 and is mainly used for educational purposes. At the time of the accident, the scene was in chaos, and the crowd shouted: "The robot is making trouble~"
