Blades supporting Virtual Reality are preinstalled with 64-bit Windows 10, but users can format the SSDs and install Linux-like operating systems such as Ubuntu or Valve Software's SteamOS platform. Digital Trends said that fans’ suggestions include porting Razer Synapse to Linux, providing Blade with dual boot options (Windows/SteamOS), and even developing their own version of Linux.

Digital Trends stated that one user suggested that Razer develop a product that competes directly with the Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition. The XPS 13 version of Ubuntu 16.04 comes with a starting price of $1,000 (approximately RMB 6890), an entry-level model with an Intel Core i5-7200U processor, 8GB of LPDDR3 memory, a 128GB solid state drive, and a 13.3-inch full HD display. However, Razer Linux laptops may have higher configurations, such as larger display screens, discrete graphics, and M.2 NVMe SSDs.
