Florida Power Lighting announced on the 25th that it plans to build a 110 megawatt solar power facility in Florida as part of the company's renewable energy portfolio.
The company's CEO, LewHay, told the media that the construction of the new power plant would achieve more than a third of the company's goal of having 300 megawatts of solar power capacity in Florida last year.
The company announced that its 110MW medium capacity includes 75MW of solar thermal power and two photovoltaic power plants, one of which is a 25MW photovoltaic power plant in De Soto and the other is a 10MW photovoltaic power generation project at the Kennedy Space Center.
These projects have not yet been approved by state regulators, according to the company: the electricity produced will be able to supply 35,000 customers.
