On October 15, 2013, Cree announced a global non-exclusive license agreement with NNCrystal US Corp., a US subsidiary of Hangzhou Najing Technology Co., Ltd., to allow NNCrystal to use the Cree remote phosphor patent portfolio.
The patented family of patents includes the following basic combinations: blue LEDs combined with remote phosphor components to produce white light, and the production, design and placement of the optics, enabling lighting manufacturers to use NNCrystal's remote phosphor optics for remote-based production Phosphor LED lights, without having to apply for a remote phosphor patent license to Cree. By adopting this Cree patented technology, the time to market will be shortened, and the support of Cree's patented technology will be supported by NNCrystal's authorized remote phosphor optics.
