Japan Display Corporation (Japan Display) has announced the development of its first glass-based transparent capacitive fingerprint sensor, which uses internal capacitive multi-touch technology, which was originally designed for LCD panels. This new sensor is expected to reach commercial shipments in FY 2018. It may eventually turn into an upgrade to traditional silicon-based fingerprint sensors based on silicon chips and is likely to become a replacement for the recent market. Shows fingerprint sensors currently being produced by companies such as Qualcomm and Synaptics.
The glass-based capacitive fingerprint sensor integrates touch functions into a glass substrate using the pixel eye technology of Japanese displays. The technology is already supporting the smartphone and digital camera markets. In addition, Japanese display manufacturers have improved this technology to detect changes in capacitance caused by the depressions and bumps of the fingerprint. The sensors are designed to be available in a variety of sizes, including 8x8mm size sensors.
Looking ahead, Japan Display also plans to use its existing flexible display technology to build flexible fingerprint sensors. This will take fingerprint recognition to a new level. At the same time, what is about to become a reality is that the first glass-based fingerprint sensor will become part of the future smartphone.
Japan has shown that its transparent solution will lead to the expansion of fingerprint sensors in new applications. We can of course think that in areas like smartphones, biometrics has become a big deal in the growing smartphone market. Apple introduced the Face ID last year as an upgraded version of the fingerprint ID Touch ID on the iPhone 5s in 2013. Similarly, Synaptics has recently developed a fingerprint sensor for its deficiencies, providing the market with an upgrade to traditional fingerprint sensors.
Synaptics claims that its proprietary display fingerprint sensor technology is as fast as other biometric technologies such as Apple's Face ID and is highly secure. It is basically located between the glass protection and the OLED panel and is touted as being able to recognize fingerprints below 1.5mm thick, including screen protectors. According to Synaptics, advanced fingerprint sensor technology can even use wet, dry and cold fingers, which is impossible for silicon-based fingerprint sensors.
The first Synaptics Clear ID sensor was launched on the Vivo X20 Plus UD, which was launched in China on February 1. The price of the smartphone is 3,598 yuan. Qualcomm is also advancing the competition for available fingerprint solutions. In June last year, the San Diego-based company demonstrated its first ultrasonic fingerprinting technology at the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai. But so far no details have been announced in this regard.
Similarly, Japanese companies may even let Apple embed its glass-based fingerprint sensor into future iPhones. According to reports, the company is negotiating to provide LCD monitors for the next generation of iPhones.
AC power supply is a kind of power supply that converts the input mains or DC input into a pure sine wave output after AC-DC-AC or DC-AC conversion. The ideal AC power supply is characterized by stable frequency, stable voltage, zero internal resistance and pure sine wave output voltage wave (without distortion). Mainly used for power grid simulation tests conducted by various electrical appliance manufacturers on electrical appliances according to the voltage/frequency requirements of different countries, various AC motors, AC transformers, aircraft & mechanical equipment and other electronic devices that require pure, regulated and frequency-stabilized output.
Our AC power supply mainly includes three types
1. AC Power Supplies converting the input mains AC by AC-DC-AC, output voltage and frequency are stable and adjustable with pure sine wave output waveform, so called: Variable Frequency AC Power Supplies.
2. AC Power Supplies converting the DC output of the battery and other DC equipment by DC-AC, giving an AC sinusoidal output with stable output voltage and frequency. so called: Inversion AC Power Supplies.
3. AC Power Supplies converting the input mains AC by AC-DC-AC, giving a variable voltage AC output at constant 400Hz output frequency ultra-high output frequency stability. so called: Intermediate Frequency AC Power Supplies.
4. According to the difference in the number of output phases, the AC Power Supplies can be divided into single-phase output AC power supplies and three-phase output AC power supplies.
Different from Variac and AC voltage regulators, our AC power supplies support the setting of output voltage and frequency and has superior high precision, high stability, and high efficiency stable frequency AC output, not only for AC power conversion but also for AC high precision test purpose.
Through the friendly operation panel, you can read the output data such as output voltage, output current, output power, power factor, etc., providing accurate data records for your test, and can add RS485 interfaces as standard, following the MODBUS-RTU international communication protocol, which can realize remote control and operating status monitoring of the power supplies.
Our AC Power Supplies have comprehensive protection functions, such as: over voltage, over current, over temperature and short circuit protections, which can protect the AC power supplies and DUT from damages.
