The first main transformer of the Three Gorges Underground Power Station entered the substation

The main transformer of the No. 30 generating unit of the Three Gorges Underground Power Station with a weight of 390 tons was adopted as a "water and land" transportation method. It was launched from the shore of the Three Gorges Gangue Heavy-Duty Terminal and pushed forward with three 192 tractors. The wheeled flatcars were transported, and the entire police car of the Three Gorges traffic police opened the way, escorted by the guards, vacated the road, and under strict prevention and control, along the Xiling Avenue, they were transported for 2 hours and 14 kilometers, and were safely transported to the underground power station substation of the Three Gorges Project.

The Three Gorges Underground Power Station has a total of 6 generating units. The main transformer for this transportation is the first main transformer of the Three Gorges Underground Power Station and is the first SFP-840MVA independently designed and manufactured by Baoding Tianwei Baoji Electric Co., Ltd. for the underground power station of the Three Gorges Project. The main transformer of 500kV is 8 meters long, 3.5 meters wide, 5 meters high and 390 tons in weight. Its main technical performance indicators have reached the international advanced level, and it has realized the localization of the main transformer of the underground power station in the Three Gorges Project.

During the transit of the main transformer, there was a risky situation. At the turn of a 90-degree left turn, the vehicle entered the steep slope of nearly 40 degrees, due to the first non-continuously variable-speed tractor and the second and third platforms. The continuously variable traction tractor did not form synchronized traction, resulting in the breakage of the steel rope connection between the first tractor and the second tractor. As a result, the carrier vehicle formed an inverted “S” and stopped at the steep slope. The on-site staff quickly braked. Carrying a flatbed truck with a 390-ton main transformer to prevent the vehicle from sliding backwards, the traffic police in the Three Gorges rapidly entered the rear of the masses of vehicles to clear and intercept and vacate the remaining vehicles that followed, preventing possible dangerous situations. After the on-site staff re-adjusted the parking spaces and re-strengthened the steel ropes, they successfully passed the 500-meter steep slope and successfully arrived at the substation of the Three Gorges underground power station.
