Infineon's IGBT chip thickness is in a leading position among chips of the same voltage level. For example, its 650V IGBT chip thickness is only 70 microns. This helps to greatly reduce the loss on the chip, combined with HybridPACK, a high-power technology module, can help greatly improve the efficiency and reduce the size of the automotive motor controller.
Infineon has made important progress in 400V IGBT chip technology recently, and will launch corresponding mass production modules in the near future. The thickness of the 400V IGBT chip is only 40um, which is less than half the thickness of a sheet of paper. It requires extremely superb manufacturing technology to achieve it.
